Environmental Policy

It is the policy of Carey Glass International to pursue continuous environmental improvement and to minimise our impact on the environment in a sustainable manner. To this end the Company operates a policy to manage the environmental impacts associated with our activities. Whilst upholding our tradition of quality, built up over 40 years, and conducting our business in a profitable manner we will continually and proactively assess and develop our environmental objectives, which include:

• Comply with, or exceed, environmental legislation and regulations appropriate to our activities.
• Review our efficient use of raw materials, energy, and water and the recovery and recycling thereof wherever possible.
• Reduction of emissions, waste, and discharges from our activities, by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible.
• Maintaining high standards of safety at work for our employees, and any visitors, and encourage sound attitude towards the environment in our field of activities through ongoing communication with our employees.
• Seek to encourage our clients and suppliers to pursue environmental best practice and apply environmentally favourable solutions.
• Actively pursue new opportunities enhancing the environmental soundness of our products and manufacturing methods.
• We are a responsible company and have an ongoing recycling policy linked to returning packaging and our waste glass is sent back to be recycled into new product.

As part of our commitment to the above, we are currently certified and audited by Repak Ireland which is Ireland’s first voluntary initiative between industry and the Department of the Environment. The initiative is designed to meet industry’s producer responsibility obligations under the EU directive on packaging and packaging waste (94/62/EC0 and the subsequent Waste Management Regulations 1997.

The Company is also committed to the installation of energy producing Photo Voltaic panels generating energy in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner, thereby reducing our carbon footprint.

Carey Glass International is aware that these objectives will enhance the economic and environmental sustainability of the organisation and are committed to playing an active role in the implementation of the above and to undertake to review it in the light of experience and developments.
