  SCHUCO FW50SG ED

The Schuco FW50SG forms the basis of the all-glass façade, which is suitable for curtain walling, entrance areas and staircases.

The geometry of the spacer bar has been designed so that the inner pane of the double glazing unit is additionally secured mechanically. In the case of the system FW50SG, the outer panes are retained by means of a two-component silicone bonding material. As with conventional double glazing units both use a spacer, which incorporates butyl on the glass contact surfaces, which improves bonding and impermeability on these faces. A further design criteria is the UV-resistant form of the pane edge seal, as the sunlight has unimpeded access. For bonding of the pane edge a UV-resistant silicone is used. The UV-resistance and impermeability to water vapour of the silicone bond is comparable in anticipated service life to that of a conventional double glazed unit.

Benefits of using the FW50SG System

- After installation, only 20mm wide joints remain in the outer visible sight line, the peripheral joint size is maintained throughout the system.
- FW50SG provides a uniform flush exterior appearance, both with fixed glazing units and with glazed spandrel panels.
- Positive fixing of the double glazing elements ensured by glazing clips engaging in
the element edge joint.
- Profile geometry with rebate base drainage plus the use of joint sealing from pane
edge to pane edge provide double weather protection.

The architecturally desirable effect of frameless glass curtain walls rests on the acceptability of the dark, narrow seal line between the glass panes and the reflectively concealing aluminium spacer bar. The outer panes of the double glazing units must for reasons of shipping and stability and the thermal load involved, consist of 6mm or 8mm single pane toughened glass. The inner pane to be used in the double glazing unit generally has a thickness of 6mm.
