Summary

De Montfort University - A Campus for the 21st Century. The new campus is now one of the finest in the country. Over the last few years £136 million has been invested to make it the very definition of a modern, 21st century place to study.

Re-cladding of the existing Arts Tower in curtain walling incorporating a large quantity of ventilators to provide natural ventilation. The Design Wing has a multi storey curtain walling which incorporates horizontal Brise Soleil to the South elevation. The spacious Food Court area was fitted with a single storey curtain walling incorporating sliding doors. Finally the Pod which incorporates a spectacular facetted curtain walling, which also slopes outwards at 15 degrees. Within this area there are also external Brise Soleil fixed off the curtain walling.

Details

Located right in the heart of Leicester, DMU is a blend of the historic and the new, respecting the tradition of the area and its buildings while at the same time creating a new legacy of its own. At the heart of it is the stunning new Vijay Patel Building, which houses art and design courses in a building as creative as the students who study there. Surrounding that is the newly-refurbished Campus Centre, home of the De Montfort Students’ Union, the striking Hugh Aston building for business and law, the magnificent 19th century Hawthorn building for health and life sciences and many others.
