Mount Royal Village West
Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Architect: Abugov Kaspar | Calgary Architects
Limestone and brick masonry combine with metal and glasswork in a design that considers the built context without replicating it.
Transparent facades along 8th Street and 16th Avenue show internal pedestrian circulation creating a visual relationship between the public realm and proposed uses. At grade, the 16th Avenue facade is visually and physically permeable via a repeating pattern of transparent overhead doors and butt glazing, enhancing the pedestrian nature of the street.
Oversize double glazed units max unit 174” long.
Mount Royal Village West is a new development directly west of the existing Mount Royal Village, at the intersection of 16th Avenue and 8th Street SW. MRV West is pursuing LEED Silver certification. The 9,171 sq. m. project will include a supermarket, an urban Canadian Tire store, and a mix of retail units and office space.
