Location: Bath, UK
Architect: AWW Architects
With over 15,000 students and around 2,600 staff, the university is a major part of the academic, economic and social structure of the City of Bath.
A vast glass atrium, a combination of curtain walling, ceramic cladding and intricate aluminium capping, louvres and fins.
Recessed returns either side of the atrium screen posed particular problems of access, but these were overcome by the installation team abseiling down the external facade of the building to install the cladding with our usual high quality of finish.
10 West provides a new centre of operations for the expanding Department of Psychology, and features a suite of purpose built laboratories alongside general teaching and research accommodation.
Vinci Construction, builders of the new 10West building, received an award for build quality in the Bath & North East Somerset Council Building Control Awards 2016. The architect Charles Jordan (AWW Architects, Bristol) was highly commended in the same awards for design quality of the building.
